This 2022 project was designed to complement a beautiful newly constructed home in Northville Township. The hardscape echoes the neutral palette of grey and white materials found on the house and ensures that garden and architecture seamlessly blend.

A custom gate, inspired by the organic lines of the home’s front door, stands at the end of the driveway. Between two heavy stone piers, the gate’s sweeping airy framework invites guests to gaze into the rolling landscape beyond. The soft grey finish echoes the colors found on the house and complements the lush green of the garden.
On the other side of the gate, a stone stepper path leads around the side of the house. Layers of hedges and perennials soften and enrich the transition, and a retaining wall negotiates the gentle slope of the lawn, embraces the garden, and adds to the feeling of privacy and comfort. Strategically placed oversized planters act as focal points and host vibrant perennials that enliven the space.
The path leads to a private oasis set against the backdrop of mature trees. The natural stone terrace is nestled in lush beds of layered plantings that create a dreamy and luxurious spot for dining and entertaining. Boxwoods add visual structure to the space while perennials delight the senses. Rock-faced slab steps add a rustic detail that adds to the sense of immersion.
