This 2020 project in Clarkston works with the existing landscape of an expansive park-like property to create a multi-level living environment for recreation and relaxation. In the front, gentle contouring celebrates the dramatic topography with a circular driveway carved into the natural slope. In the lawn, large specimen multi-stem maples and boxwood clouds that create striking sculptural elements.

A textured stone path lined with sleek lighting elements weaves through the landscape to the entry where perennials and large planters add a welcoming pop of color. A series of rock-faced steps leads along the side of the house through a garden filled with boxwoods, perennials, and trees. This lush green garden serves as a transitional zone leading to the pool.
On the pool terrace, specimen upright trees frame the pool house and continue around the outside of the pool, working with garden walls to define the edges of the space. The expansive pool deck contains endless vantage points to enjoy not only the pool but also the surrounding landscape.
Nestled in a cozy corner by the pool house is a dining terrace with a kitchen, custom pergola, and stone fireplace. On the lowest level is an oasis designed for casual family relaxation. Centered around a custom stone firepit, the conversation area features stacked natural limestone garden walls that create a rugged, textured backdrop to contrast with the soft layers of the surrounding planting beds. This private terrace offers unobstructed views of the dramatic rolling hills and mature trees of the property.
