Orchard Ridge

The design for this two-acre private estate started with a main axis derived from the house’s line of symmetry. Both the motor court and the rear swimming pool are centered on the axis, and the planting design adds balance. The preservation of existing trees and grades was critical when designing the brick paver driveway, motor court, and surrounding gardens.

The landscape design is composed of clean lines and smooth textures, exuding an air of simple elegance. Large evergreens run along the perimeter to ensure privacy; their hues of green form a band of color that serves as a backdrop for the sculptural elements in the yard. Large plinths clad with clean white stucco echo were added to echo the smooth texture of the house’s exterior. The plinths serve as bases for large bowl-shaped flower containers that satisfy the client’s love of bright seasonal colors. Abstract organic sculptures situated in the lawn and in the center of the motor court add a dimension of whimsy with their curving profiles.
